Tech and COVID-19

How We Can Help Each Other

With the entire Bay Area and more regions of the country under shelter-in-place orders, our communities and economies are struggling. Many workers whose jobs can’t be done remotely are being laid off or sent home unpaid, without health insurance. Small businesses are required to close shop, while rent and other expenses rack up. This crisis is laying bare the inequities our communities face; now more than ever, we need to come together to support and advocate for the health, safety, and well-being of all of us.

Join TechEquity Collaborative for an online panel discussion about COVID-19 and its impact on workers and small businesses. We’ll hear from a panel of workforce & policy experts and discuss how the shelter-in-place order has impacted workers, what resources are currently available on the local, state, and federal levels, and what we can do to support our neighbors while socially isolating.

The panel will be moderated by Catherine Bracy, Executive Director and Co-Founder of TechEquity. Panelist include:

  • Emanuel Yekutiel, Founder at Manny’s and Small Business Commissioner, City of San Francisco
  • Maria Noel Fernandez, Deputy Executive Director at Working Partnerships USA
  • Buffy Wicks, California State Assemblymember, District 15
  • Ian Eve Perry, Policy Manager at TechEquity
